Legislators rush to turn in bills on final filing day
(3/10/07 - AUSTIN, TX) - Texas lawmakers scurried to beat a deadline Friday for filing bills this legislative session as they proposed routine and high-profile measures that could get voted on by the end of May.
Rep. Jessica Farrar, a Houston Democrat, proposed abolishing the state's death penalty. Other death penalty abolition bills have been filed this session, but this one is more detailed than some and addresses a number of legal statutes.
