Mississippi death row inmate Dale Leo Bishop is asking a federal appeals court to block his execution, which is scheduled for Wednesday.Bishop's attorneys filed an emergency motion Thursday with the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans.

Bishop was sentenced to death for his role in the 1998 claw hammer murder of one of his friends.Bishop's attorneys said that he should not be executed for several reasons.

They said that his former lawyers were ineffective, he has mental problems and Mississippi's method of lethal injection is unconstitutional. They also said that he participated in the crime but wasn't the killer.
