Dr. Groner's article is the sort of piece that could serve as a wake- up call to America's physicians.
It is ironic that, in recent years, it has become more and more difficult to find doctors willing to perform abortions because of the pressure put on them -- politically and too often, physically -- by the "pro-lifers" in our society.
What if doctors who participated in capital punishment -- which, as Groner describes -- runs contrary to AMA accepted practices -- were suspended from the practice of medicine, or otherwise felt the pressure from the "normative" medical community? It might become difficult to find an executioner.
May that day come soon.
