Shit does happen, so

“sh*t does happen, so.”

“Shit does happen, so.” That quote was the “the execution team members’ reaction to the problem at the [Tookie] Williams execution” when they failed to properly set all the insertions required to ensure that Tookie’s execution was not botched, or so notes Judge Fogel’s in his findings that California can not adequately guarantee a constitutionally adequate execution process.

How many problems there have been with executions by lethal injection remains unknown s records have not always been kept. Following Friday, however, one thing is clear, lethal injection will no longer be viewed as a safe and humane method of execution. How Appealing has all the MSM coverage, Sentencing Blog is staying on top of it, as are major blogs such as TalkLeft and Volokh., and the usual suspects at the Lethal Injection blog, the Angel Diaz’s blog, and the King’s blog. Still the best coverage appears to be StandDown Texas Project & ODPI.

My good friend David Elliot at the NCADP pehaps put it best, “Florida has certainly deservedly earned a reputation for being a state that conducts botched executions, whether its electrocution or lethal injection,” Elliot said. “We just think the Florida death penalty system is broken from start to finish.”
