Convicted killer Dennis Skillicorn, scheduled for execution on August 27th, is going to live a while longer.
The State Supreme Court has issued a couple of rulings in the Skillicorn case. While denying his request for a writ of habeas corpus, the Court has agreed to a motion to vacate the execution date based on Skillicorn's claim that his federally-appointed clemency counsel have been unable to obtain interviews with prisoners and prison staff for the purpose of preparing a thorough clemency petition to the governor.
The earliest a new execution date could be set is 30 days after the August 27th scheduled date.

As a family member of two of his victims.. this only prolongs the pain we have endured for 14 years.
I am really, really sorry for your pain and your loss, and the circumstances surrounding your loved one's deaths. There's not a day gone past when Dennis Skillicorn hasn't thought about your loved ones and wished that he could turn back time, make things otherwise.
But he can't make things otherwise, he can't turn back the clock. Nothing can do that. His death might make you feel better for a while, but it will never ease this pain. It won't bring back your loved ones, and it's going to make his family victims - and I'm not talking Paula and Regi because I've seen your postings elsewhere and accept that you view Paula's pain as self-inflicted because she chose to be with Dennis. But he does have sisters, brothers, nephews, and nieces that he's close to. Dennis hurts like hell at the thought of the pain his drug addiction, weakness and lifestyle have brought both to the victim's families and his own.
Dennis doesn't make excuses of a bad childhood, he's accepted responsibility for the stupidity of his lifestyle. That's why he's tried so hard since he's got clean to try to stop others following the same path. He's never expected clemency for trying to do that, and he's always said that. Skillicorn of 1994 and Skillicorn of 2008 are two different souls completely, who have shared the same body in their time on this earth, but that's the only thing that they have in common. Dennis Skillicorn never walked away from Nicklasson because he was in way too deep and wouldn't have made it on his own, the man was weak - but he never pulled a trigger. Nicklasson is the one who holds full responsibility for these tragic and sad deaths.
The reason why the 1994 an 2008 Skillcorn's are different is because he was locked up and not able to be free. He could not enjoy freedom and let others be. And he killed 4 people!!
He accepted his fate when he committed his first crime.
I am not a family member of a victim...but forgiveness still does not mean he should not pay for his crime and some people need to stop confusing morality and humanity.
