I just called Gov. Perry's phone # and left a message on Jose's behalf. I understand if full the nature of this crime, and I agree that is is horrendous, however, what are we saying to other countries of we can't stand by our word. Let me note that I am also a criminal justice student, and I can see this allowing for US citizens to treated unfairly and unjust in other countries, including Mexico. Medellin's lawyers are not asking to retry the whole case, they are simply asking for a 240-day reprieve. So why can't we honor that? If we go ahead and execute him on Tuesday, I strongly feel that this could impose detrimental consequences for US citizens in foriegn countries in the future. <BR/>Why is it that Texas feels that it can pick and choose which laws and agreements they abide by? Sorry, Texas, that's not our government should be working. We MUST give Jose Medellin a stay, or prepare ourselves for the horrible problems we will have brought onto ourselves in the future.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
